Online Course description
This course will offer students the freedom to explore their creativity and experiment with different art styles and practices. We will use prompts, inspiration from historical art movements, and our imaginations to create artworks throughout the course.
I will set up a Google Jamboard where students can post pictures of their work if they would like feedback from myself and other students, and I will use PowerPoint to begin lessons before we start doing hands-on artwork. Students may request specific topics to cover and I will try to accommodate everybody's wants and needs during the course. We will mostly work with pencil and acrylic paint. This course is welcome to all beginners, and will cover the basics of drawing and painting: shading, color mixing, drawing still life, experimenting, storytelling through art, and more.
This course will incorporate collaborative constructive criticism, as I would like upcoming artists to benefit from learning in a group, and I of course will offer my advice and tips for creating a finished product. This is a pretty free and flexible course to develop skills and develop a personal artistic process with the help of lessons about artistic principles and examples from history. Students are welcome to work on many different projects or focus on one aspect of the course; I will speak individually with students to help develop projects one-on-one as well as in a group.
I look forward to creating with everybody and helping students along their journey as an artist!
