Online Course description
This is a basic level painting course intended to start students off with basic artistic principles such as color, shading, texture, depth, shape, and emotion. The goal of this course is to inspire new artists to curate a personal style. Each course I will quickly go over an element of painting and we will spend the remainder of the class and the next working on a piece that focuses on the artistic principle in the lesson, and at the end I will open a Google Jamboard for those who would like to share their work and hear feedback. Students are also welcome to work independently on projects before we meet together on Zoom, and are welcome to share any work on the Jamboard. Please note this is not mandatory, but it can be beneficial to take advantage of working collaboratively and hearing the thoughts of other artists.
Students are also welcome to request that I cover something they are interested in during the course, such as a particular artist or art movement. Students will likely find there is something in particular they are drawn to painting, and this is **** in cultivating a personal artistic style. Students will have the choice to either work on something different each week or continue working on projects through several weeks.
This course is intended to be a flexible starting point to artists interested in learning more about painting and artistic style, and will be driven by the students. There is no such thing as bad art, and I encourage everybody to experiment and stay open-minded throughout the course!
