Kiln glass classes cover both Glass fusing and kiln carving. Glass fusing uses the kiln to create imagery in glass. In this session we will learn how to produce simple yet affective pieces of fused glass. A number of the pieces we produce can be turned into functional works of art for the home, whilst the others can be used as jewellery or stand-alone works of art. You will learn about the use of frits, paints, wire and foils to create different effects. Kiln carving is a type of kiln forming. The process uses materials such as fibreboard, fibre paper and plaster to add texture and relief to glass. In this class we will learn to create moulds for kiln carving out of a number of different materials. The course will also introduce you to glass cutting techniques, firing schedules and cold working.
Half day courses run from 9-12 or 12-3 and are charged at £90.
