Advanced Contemporary movement workshop

This dance course is an advanced contemporary for students who are looking for a challenge. In this class, we will start with a basic warm-up to get our bodies prepared for vigorous movements. This warm-up will include a variety of breathing and floorwork execises to help us get into our bodies.

From that warm-up we will float into a guided improv led by my voice. It will be different every time, I want this part of class to feel new and exciting each time. With this level of freedom and curiousity, It will help you build your own voice as a mover. In this space, you are always allowed to make decisions for yourself. Listen to your body and do what it needs. 

After warming ourselves up and grooving a bit, I will then teach a contemporary phrase that you will learn and get a chance to workshop. We will play with different modes (solos/duets, doing the phrase as an adagio, retrograding, slow motion/super speed). You are fully allowed to take my choreography and make it your own. Use my phrase as a base, and then explore. I want this to be playful.

This class should be a challenge, and you will sweat..ALOT. My goal is to make you feel all feel comfortable in your own body and to explore all of the different sides of yourself.
