Since 2005, ‘Quirky Workshops’ in Greystoke has been offering an eclectic and unrivalled range of arts, crafts and heritage skills courses. We now run over 140 ‘Quirky Workshops’ each year from our pretty 17thC farmhouse on the fringes of the beautiful Lake District and Eden Valley in Cumbria. In July 2020 we opened a lovely new, listed & spacious 'Covid-secure' teaching studio - the 'Swallow Barn', which now enjoys consistently excellent feedback; please see below for all details. Our new programme for each year is sent out at the end of October, by email, directly to those on our database. Please contact us directly if you wish to join this list in order to have early sight of next year’s programme. This course has just been added (in late September 2020) as our usual Lino Cut tutor is shielding and unfortunately been unable to teach this year. Both tutors have a lovely and very individual style, with botanics and wildlife at their heart. This promises to be an exciting day and is a great introduction to the art of lino cutting with a botanical/wildlife theme. Once you have designed / selected your image, Sue will show you how to transfer it to the lino block. You will then cut the design to leave a relief surface which can be carefully inked up in various colours to create several prints, using a hand burnishing technique. You will be working on an A4 size piece of specialist lino. You will be able to take home your original lino cut and prints at the end of the day.
