Learn how to make baskets from foraged materials which we gather on the day from the woodland site. On offer is a wide variety of techniques & materials including bramble, bark, bone, wild rose, grass, reed mace, bulrush. Learn about the whole cycle of production- harvesting the raw materials & processing them, through to completing a beautiful & useful basket to take home with you. Courses are scheduled to coincide with the seasonal availability of plants for foraging, therefore a different plant material and process is offered on each date shown. Please click on the 'View Website' button above to book your place. We aim to give you a satisfying learning experience as well as an enjoyable time away from it all. To support you in getting the most from your time, we start each day with a simple and enjoyable mindfulness-based nature connection practice. There’s a camping option so that you can make a full weekend of it (not included in the price). It’s great to do these courses with friends and loved ones. Groups are kept small to allow for individual attention. Suitable for all levels including beginners. Age suitability: our courses are designed for adults, but teens of 16+ are welcome if accompanied by a participating adult. National Geographic & Toyota put us in their Top 125 UK Adventures. Native Hands has been featured in the Guardian and also in the recently published 'Wild Times' guide by Bradt.
All materials are provided and we always have a kettle on the camp fire, plenty of hot drinks, and home made cake to keep us well fuelled. We also have shelter arrangements (a large tarp) in case we need it.
